People love pictures. No, people really love pictures. They connect us with the world, and they also connect us to each other. So, it’s no surprise that people like to see pictures on blogs because it helps them connect with the writer…you!
Today’s assignment
Add a picture to your next blog post, hopefully to the one your write today! But don’t just go grab a picture from Google images – they’re usually not that great (lots of cheesy clip art) and there can be copyright infringement issues with using some of the photos as well.
A better option for finding free photos is Flickr, the photo sharing site where people upload thousands of photos everyday, many of them quite good. Not sure how to navigate the site? Skelliewag offers a complete guide to finding photos for your blog using Flickr.
I often use Flickr, but my favorite place for finding professional-looking photos for my blogs is iStockphoto. It’s a great place to find high-quality royalty-free stock photos to use for your blog (and any other web project, really).
You can see examples of some of the photos I’ve used from istockphoto on my blog http://www.rosettathurman.com. Blog size pictures cost about $1 each and they can make a world of difference for your posts. See?

Regardless of whether you use free pictures or pay for them, just be sure to choose photos that evoke some sort of imagery or emotion that relates to your blog post. It’s a fantastic way to draw your readers in and give greater meaning to your writing.
Once you write your picture-fied blog post, share the link with us in the comments section below!
Note: Please tag your posts with “31bnb” to make them easier to share with us.

I used to do this years ago, but fell out of the practice, Im not sure exactly why now tho. But, I am going to apply this to my blog, starting this week – come check it out!

Finally taking a break from anatomy to blog … and write a post about anatomy. So, a late submission for the list post category, complete with a picture: http://www.medicineforchange.com/first-week-of-…
I ended up taking an older post I wrote back in March, and I re-posted it with a picture:

Will do. I want it to be formalized, so working on a partnership agreement to make it official…
That is an AWESOME site! I will definitely share that with others. Just met a 'blogger in the making' that would be interested in their work. Great resource!
I was so excited when I learned how to insert the pics into my post. Check out my latest. http://www.chasingsoul.com
Here is my picture blog post, thanks for reminding me, I was falling off with putting pictures on my posts!

I combined this day's challenge with the reaction post. I really liked both of the challenges and want to incorporate the reaction post into my blog on a regular basis. Maybe once a week minimum? Or maybe choose a particular day and always do a reaction post on that day. I'll have to think about it and work it into my blog.
Still gotta do a reaction post (which I'll probably do to get back on Colored White) but everyday is a picture day on http://www.b3homedesigns.blogspot.com. Couldn't do a DIY/look at my vintage gets blog if, well, I didn't show folks the goods. Trying to find the fine balance between “just enough” pics and overloading with so many that it takes my blog too long to load. I have a site or two I like that I just have to view on the weeknds because they are so picture visual…take a while to load. Pictures are super fun. Specially for the visual folks.
I just developed a partnership with http://www.themomtographers.com to provide pics for my blog.
http://www.chocolatechiponline.blogspot.com for my post with pics.
Thanks for the great pic sources! If you're looking for pics of children/babies, http://www.themomtographers.com/ will be glad to work with you at no cost.

sounds like a great idea.
I actually did this on my post yesterday and got a photo from http://www.freefoto.com
Trying to get unique pictures for your blog post is very hard. That partnership with photographers is a good idea. Let us know if you work something out.
Like Artdeal, I try to include a pic in every post. My question is whether there are any bloggers working in partnership with specific photographers to profile their work as part of the blog? I am considering this as an option, but curious if others have done something similar. Want to make sure the pics I use are unique.
I will have to check this out…thanx for the info Marisa
Thanks a bunch Nicole
I try to put an image to every post. I also do screen-shots if it's something I am work on and would like to share. I love flickr and istockphoto.
I just discovered Zemanta in WordPress. It is a really cool way of adding pictures.
Great pic, great post… I left you a comment.
Well, my blog is mainly pictures, so that wasn't hard
But I agree with the advice given here – don't use Google images and go with Flickr. I think that Flickr works well because there's a sort of genuineness to the photos since they are not generic or mass produced.
I always add pictures or videos or both to my posts. Its fun (and challenging) to try and find a picture that speaks to the heart of each piece. My post for day 16 has what I hope is a thought provoking picture. Check it out if you like.
