Day 19: Turn a Comment Into a Blog Post

Comments are great because they can keep your readers engaged with your content as well as build your reputation with other bloggers in your niche. But wait, there’s more! You can even extend the life of a blog post or topic of discussion by using those comments on a subsequent post.

Today’s assignment

Go back through your comments from this month and choose one to inspire a new blog post. You can simply highlight the comment and write a post about your reaction to it (agree/disagree and why) and what other ideas it brought up for you. Or you might use it as a conversation starter for a slightly different topic. The comment may have revealed another angle of your topic that you can now begin to explore. Don’t forget to name the person who left you the comment. Readers love being recognized!

What if you don’t have any blog comments yet? Well, you can always write about a comment someone left on another blog in your niche.

After you write your new post, share the link in the comments section below!

Note: Please tag your posts with “31bnb” to make them easier to share with us.

Comments

  1. Catching up here. I used a comment about visiting museums with young people as the inspiration for the post. I also solicited opinions via Twitter and worked those into the post as well.

    should museums be family friendly?

Another great idea! BUT… I do not receive many comments on my blog, and there isn't really anything I can reply to right now. I will definitely keep this one in mind and save it for a future post.

  3. Here is my post in response to a post titled: Bring Back the Faith.

I'm a little late, but I posted my response to my post of “America's Most Wanted”. And no one actually commented on the blog itself, but I had two associates talk to me about it, and I was thinking about writing a response to it anyway, so this worked out perfectly!

  5. LOL thanx…I like to think its dry wit but mostly I'm just corny :)

  6. I really enjoy your dry wit and sarcasm… it's so entertaining for me to read!

  7. Here's my post– it touches on multiple comments I've gotten on being America, Iranian, Muslim-born, and hyphenated today:

  8. Loved your necklace from today's post so much I left a comment :)

  9. Great idea, this shows your readers that you're listening! And, the timing couldn't be better… on August 17th, I received some outstanding compliments. Today (August 19th), I addressed these comments and essentially told my audience that this has inspired me to take a slightly new direction. I'm curious to see what today's feedback will bring!

  10. I received an intersting comment on a humor piece that I posted yesterday. So I decided to use that as a jumping point for today's post on how I don't have to live something in order to write about it.
